29 November 2019 – Acts 16:29-30 (NIV)

Scripture

29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

Reflection

What would have happened if Paul, Silas and the other prisoners had escaped when the earthquake caused the prison doors to be opened?

It’s not explicitly written the reason why they didn’t escape, but we know that their actions led into the jailer’s salvation and his whole household.

To find God’s purpose in difficult situations calls us to have the mind of Christ, to praise Him despite of our circumstances.

What if we start to respond to things in a way that people who don’t know Christ don’t expect so that by all means we are able to share about His salvation?

Paul and Silas not only preached about the Good News but also lived out their lives accordingly. Their living testimony reaffirmed the message they were preaching.

We are called to do the same!

Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. 1 Timothy 4:16
