What we believe

At SCF we believe that God has commissioned us to have significant impact in our local & global community through Good News and Good Works. (We share the gospel and show Christ’s practical love to those around us)

For us as a church, we’re always ‘On Mission’ both here in China and overseas. We work locally in China through a number of local organizations and globally in many countries through SCF Missions.

Local Missions

What do we fund locally?

We support many organizations across China, a few of which are mentioned below. Through these organizations, we have the opportunity to make an impact in our local community across Shanghai and various other cities in China.

Home Sweet Home’s vision is to equip and empower people with special needs to develop their full potential in the community. Participants are physically challenged. Through complementary educational and service objectives, they are provided with a temporary home, education, training, and in-house and open employment.

Renewal Center: provides resources for meeting basic needs, lasting personal development and life change to Shanghai’s urban displaced. The center was born out of a desire to facilitate long-term change for people who’d become separated from their families and resorted to living rough, with special personal impediments to reunion with families and integrating into China’s workforce.

14 orphanages, schools, and child care programs across China. Most of the orphanages have children with cleft lip/ cleft pallet, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brittle bone and/or are mentally challenged.

The child care programs include

  • Shanghai Healing Home – a transition home for children who need to receive or getting prepared for cleft lip / cleft pallet surgery.
  • Shanghai Cere Care – center for children with cerebral palsy, these children are mostly orphaned, and are physically debilitated, but mentally very sound!
  • Sonflowers – providing after school programs for underprivileged children, and children in the red light district.

Social help and discipleship for the homeless.

Provides prosthetics to those in need. The AL project is a “3 trip” twice a year project; the first trip is for the interview, the second is for the fitting and the third for the delivery.

Global missions is integral to the vision of SCF.

As a church with over 100 nationalities, our ability to reach out globally is very extensive.

Our main focus around the globe is leadership development, humanitarian aid, and community transformation, with involvement within Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region. We also financially and strategically support Convoy of Hope, a faith-based non-profit that helps people around the world by “sharing food, water, emergency supplies, agricultural know-how, and opportunities that empower people to live independent lives, free from poverty, disease and hunger..”.
