12 JANUARY 2018 – Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

Scripture

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Reflection

The list is there to make a point; nothing, absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Except maybe us. It’s not that God is going to stop loving us because we ask him to or because we are so bad he just gives up on us, which he won’t. If we are going to stop experiencing His love it is because we will pull away. Think Adam and Eve, hiding in the garden, the place where they once walked in loving friendship with God, but no more. They have hidden themselves from the love of God; tragic consequences await (Ps. Dale).
