Scripture
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Reflection
Psalm 46 is divided into three sections: (1) God is the Defense of His saints (46:1–3); (2) God is present in Zion (46:4–7) and (3) God will be exalted in the earth (46:8–11). In the first section the psalmist declares that God is a (1) a Refuge and (2) Strength for the believers. In other words, the readers find safety and courage by trusting in Him, who is always present to help them in their troubles. So, believers need not fear, even if many perils come against them. The writer ends this psalm by exhorting the believers to observe the saving mighty deeds of God. These deeds portray how God brings peace to His people. God Himself calls for the people to trust in Him and know that He is God, for He will be exalted throughout the earth.
May this psalm be of encouragement to you and a reminder of how big and might is our God.
