15 July 2020 – Acts 2:24 (NIV)

Scripture

24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

Reflection

Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection had happened a few weeks before. Many who saw Jesus resurrected were present when Peter made this proclamation.

To announce Jesus’ resurrection as a miracle, performed by God Himself, is recognizing that it was not a scheme of men, but that Jesus was truly who He said He was. He accomplished His purpose. It didn’t end in death itself; it started with his resurrection life. Divine justice was satisfied and what Jesus conquered then is for all of us, through Him. The forgiveness of our sins.

“It was impossible for death to keep its hold on him”.

I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E!

Jesus had to accomplish His purpose, living out the fulfillment of the prophecies about Him, and it wouldn’t be complete without His resurrection.

Knowing that past prophecies about Jesus came true. How much more should we look forward to seeing His prophecies about the future will come to pass!

Christ Is Risen (Matt Maher)

(bridge)

Oh    death! Where is your sting?

Oh    hell! Where is your victory?

Oh    Church! Come stand in the light!

The glory of God has defeated the night!

Oh    death! Where is your sting?

Oh    hell! Where is your victory?

Oh    Church! Come stand in the light!

Our God is not dead, he’s alive! he’s alive!
