Scripture
4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. – Emphasis added
Reflection
We, God’s people, are a “spiritual house” but what is a spiritual house? A spiritual house is a house that is suited for the Spirit. A house that is perfectly designed for the Spirit to live and where the Spirit lives there is truth; He bears witness to the truth. We are also described as a “holy priesthood” offering up spiritual sacrifices. The sacrifices of praise, thanksgiving, love and acts of kindness which are inspired by and created by the Spirit. Later in verse 9 of the same chapter we are also described as a holy nation, a chosen race and a people of God’s possession. We are all of these things so that we can show a watching world that God can turn darkness into light, sorrow into joy and mourning into dancing! (Ps. Dale).
