21 NOVEMBER 2017 – 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (ESV)

Scripture

18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin[a] a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Reflection

You are a whole person and this of course includes our bodies, in other words we don’t just “have” a body we are a body. There is much that God has to say about why we are a body and here we see one of those reasons, our body is a sacred space for the Holy Spirit to dwell. We are a holistic offering to God; we belong to Him body, soul and spirit (Ps. Dale).

Thoughts for the day

  • What does this passage tell us about God and people?
  • What stands out to you in this passage and why?
  • What would it look like if Christ-followers totally applied this truth (or obeyed this principle) in their lives today?
  • Who can you encourage with this story/message?

Prayer

Pray for the Board of Elders, Ministry leaders and Admin staff at SCF.
