14 January 2020 -Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)
Scripture
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
Reflection
There is a concept called the Butterfly effect that states a small change can lead to a bigger change. The Butterfly effect gets its name from the example that something as little as the flutter of a butterfly’s wings and the movement of air it causes can be the catalyst for something greater, like a tornado for example. Similarly, Abram’s simple act of faith to believe in God and move from his country to Canaan, an unknown region for him at that time, resulted in the making of the great nation of Israel and the greatest blessing of all to mankind in the person of Jesus Christ.
A lot of times we inquire and desire to see big things from God. Could it be that we just need be faithful with the “small” things he asks of us? All he has asked of us is already revealed to us in the Bible and in our devotion to him. Who knows what our simple Kingdom minded acts of faith can lead to down the line? God does and I imagine they are greater than we would ever know.

Take time to pray Psalm 96. Allow it to shape prayers of thanksgiving as you are reminded of who God is.
