31 March 2020 -Ezekiel 37:14 (NIV)

Scripture

14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’”

Reflection

Yesterday we read about the vision Ezekiel experienced concerning dry bones being revived (1-10). The vision referred to the nation of Israel who was at that time in captivity. Like the dead bones in the vision, the Israelites were longing for freedom and saw no end to their judgment. The surviving Israelites felt their national hopes had been dashed. Israel had “died” in the flames of Babylon’s attack, and had no hope of resurrection. However, the reviving of the dry bones in the vision signified Israel’s national restoration. The vision showed that Israel’s new life depended on God’s power, and not outward circumstances. The reviving dry bones also signified when God restores Israel, He will renew them spiritually too.

May this account be of encouragement to us during these uncertain times. Don’t allow your circumstances to dictate how you live and feel, but look towards God and let Him restore and transform you spiritually which in turn restores your whole being. God can breathe life into your dire circumstances. Don’t lose hope, God is in control.

Prayer

Jehovah Shalom, Lord of Peace, remember those living in coronavirus hotspots and those currently living in isolation. May they know your presence, your peace in their turmoil, and your patience in their waiting. This is our prayer:

“Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need.” Psalm 79:8
