Scripture

10 Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture:

“‘The stone the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;
11 the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”

Reflection

Jesus referred to himself as the stone rejected by the builders. Rejected by most of the Jewish leaders, He becomes the Cornerstone of a new “building”, the Church.

Cornerstone is a large stone near the base of a building where two walls meet, often giving information about the building and sometimes put in position with a ceremony; it also means something of great importance that everything else depends on (Cambridge Dictionary).

Jesus’s life and teaching then becomes that something of great importance that everything else depends on; it becomes the foundation of our lives and Christ’s followers.

Cornerstone (Hillsong Live)

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But holly trust is Jesus’ name

Christ alone, Cornerstone

Weak made strong in the Savior’s love

Through the storm

He is Lord

Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face

I rest on His unchanging grace

In every high and stormy gale

My anchor holds within the veil

My anchor holds within the veil

When He shall come with trumpet sound

Oh, may I then in Him be found

Dressed in His righteousness alone

Faultless, stand before the throne (Su Tsai- Community Life Director).
