Scripture
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Reflection
Apparently at least one bit of evidence that the Spirit is at work in the life of the Christian and in the fellowship of Christians is the presence of a grateful heart. The word, “you” in Greek, the original language of the New Testament, is the plural form of “you”. This is the will of God for “you” which is to say for us in Christ Jesus. Each one of us, as members of a community, must own our portion of the thankfulness. Then, when people enter our fellowship, the gratitude is not only palpable but contagious (Ps. Dale).
