Purpose
The purpose of the Discipleship Program is to address a twofold need that currently exists within Shanghai Community Fellowship (SCF).
- The first need is to connect believers with a more seasoned and a more mature follower of Christ within SCF.
- The second need is teach/encourage the believers to carry this mandate forward and disciple other Christians.
Mandate
The mandate behind the discipleship program is to fulfill the Great Commission as seen in Matthew 28:19-20 and to see SCF’s mission and vision statement come to realization. This will be accomplished by being rooted, nourished and by being engaged at SCF.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV)
Overview
The concept behind the Discipleship Program will be accomplished by having interested believers reaching out to the Discipleship Ministry who in turn will connect them with one of the disciple makers within SCF. The two individuals will connect with each other whereupon they will decide the location and time to meet. There is no set curriculum and each encounter functions semi-autonomous, however the ‘suggested topics’ can be used for ease of reference.
