The Journey to Easter Begins
February 17, 2021
Today is the first day of Lent. What is Lent? Lent is the 40 days (not including Sundays) from Ash Wednesday (This year, February 17) to the Saturday before Easter. Lent is often described as a time of preparation and an opportunity to go deeper with God. This means that it’s a time for personal reflection that prepares people’s hearts and minds for Good Friday and Easter.
During Lent, Christians usually do three things to prepare: pray, fast, and give. In prayer, we focus on our need for forgiveness and the need to forgive others, in fasting we give something up as a way to express our total dependence on Christ, and in giving we express our gratitude for all that God has given us; “freely we have received, freely we give.”
During this season of Lent 2021, SCF is making available an excellent 40-day devotional called, “Behold the King of Glory” by Russ Ramsey (available on our website and a biblical teaching series called, “Promises” by Pst. Dale, beginning Sunday, February 21, 2021. You can catch the series during SCF Online, Sundays at 11am here: (shanghaicommunityfellowship.online.church) and on the SCF YouTube channel.
Let the journey begin.
