Scripture
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Reflection
The main verb in these familiar words of Jesus is, “make disciples” the rest of the verbs support the main idea; go, baptize, and teach. Teaching others to obey everything Jesus commanded. There are approximately forty-nine different things Jesus commanded, including: Feed my sheep, Await my return, Watch and pray, Honor your parents, Forgive each other, Deny yourself, Fear not, Pray for more laborers in the kingdom of God, Ask, Seek, Knock. Of course, this commission from Jesus assumes that we are already obeying these things, this gives us the moral authority to teach others. Let’s go!!! (Ps. Dale).
Thoughts for the day
- Are you already obeying the commandments Jesus asked us to do?
- In which area do you feel you need to be more obedient?
- Who can you share your journey of obedience to in order to encourage them to become disciples of Jesus?
Prayer
Pray for focus; fix your eyes back to Jesus and acknowledge Him at the center of everything.
