2 January 2019 – John 14:21 (NIV)

Scripture

21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

Reflection

Love is a song. Love is a feeling. Love is obedience. Jesus gave approximately forty-nine different commandments for us to obey. Follow the sequence Jesus is giving here; the one who obeys me is the one who loves me, the one who loves me is the one Father God loves. And . . . I will love them too. And . . . I will reveal myself to them, make myself visible in a clear and conspicuous way. Notice how Jesus is linking our obedience and our being able to see Jesus in a clear and conspicuous way. What is keeping you from seeing Jesus clearly? (Ps. Dale).

Thoughts for the day

  • What does this passage tell you about Jesus and people?
  • What do you feel God is telling you through this passage?
  • How can you show Jesus’ love towards others?
  • Who can you share this passage with?

Prayer

Pray for courage; pray for opportunities to be courageously generous, loving and gracious to those around you today.
