07 February 2019 – 1 Thessalonians 2:19 (NIV)
Scripture
19 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?
Reflection
Paul looks forward to the presence of the Lord Jesus which will be uncovered when he comes. Jesus is presently reigning as Lord at God’s right hand, sharing God’s throne. (Revelation 3:21) The power and the glory of Jesus will be revealed to everyone at that time. Yet, as awesome as that day will be, and taking nothing away from the glory of Jesus, Paul is thinking here of the incredible experience of being able to share that day with his friends. We wear the friendships we have in Christ, as crowns of joy. What a Jesus we have in our friends! (Ps. Dale)
