Scripture

20 The Lord is in his holy temple;
    let all the earth be silent before him

Reflection

Awe. Reverence. Who could make all the earth be silent before His Majesty and Holiness?

In Habakkuk chapter 2 we read about the Lord’s reply as He compares Himself with idols created by human hands. If kings and queens of countries with monarchic systems are greeted with reverence and jubilation, how much more should we revere the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords?

Through the blood of Jesus on the Christ we gained access to the Father. Yet, we shall not forget who He is. Godly fear is a quality of reverence and respect of God that truly reminds us of why our hands are raised high when we worship. This can only come through faith.

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty” (Su).
