24 January 2019 – Acts 13:41 (NIV)

Scripture

41 “‘Look, you scoffers,
    wonder and perish,
for I am going to do something in your days
    that you would never believe,
    even if someone told you.’”

Reflection

After the usual reading of the Torah and the prophets, Paul and Barnabas were given an opportunity to address those who came to the synagogue in Antioch of Pisidia. As they retold the story of Israel from the Old Testament they also shared about Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of the prophesies that they so often heard about, and how those who believed in Him were declared right with God, something that the Law of Moses could never do (Acts 13:39). After speaking they would warn those who were listening to not fall in unbelief but to continue to believe in Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Is there anyone close to you who have heard about the Good News but is still walking in unbelief? What do you sense God wants you to do and at the same time say a pray for them today (Su).

  • What does this passage tell you about God, Jesus and man?
  • What do you feel God is telling you through these passages?
  • How can you apply this message in an area of your life that needs transformation?
  • Is there anyone you can share this message with?
