9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,
The day of the Lord will be subsequent to certain events that must first take place, such as a moral and spiritual rebellion across the globe, and the emergence of the lawless one or the Antichrist.
Paul tells the Thessalonian believers that the Antichrist will come to do Satan’s work. Satan will give him the power to perform false miracles and wonders.
We need to be prudent, for not everyone who performs signs and wonders, performs them using the power of God.
Satan can also perform signs and wonders through his servants (Mark 13:21-22). These signs and wonders may look like the ones from God, but they are counterfeit.
We can be able to identify counterfeit signs and wonders by identifying the one who performs them (Matthew 7:20; 1 John 4:2–6).
Someone who is against God, cannot have the power of God to perform signs and wonders.
The Lord Jesus Christ is our measuring stick, even to identity false signs and wonders. Unlike the servants of Satan who perform false signs and wonders, when Jesus Christ was physically on earth, He did not only perform genuine signs and wonders which glorified God, but He also preached, taught the truth of God’s word and lived a life which reflected the character of God.
