Scripture
4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,
Reflection
As the Israelites were camped by Sinai, Moses went on the mountain and God spoke to him about the pact He would ratify with the people (Jacob and Israel were synonyms for the nation).
God compared His delivering the people out of Egypt, across the Red Sea, and to Sinai to His carrying them on eagles’ wings (cf. Deut. 32:10–11). When young eagles are learning to fly, the mother eagle flies under them with her wings spread out to catch them. God promised Israel that if they obey his voice and keep His commands, they will be His treasured possession – they would inherit the promised land.
Similarly, remember you are part of God’s chosen people through the work that has been done on the cross. God too is carrying you on eagles’ wings. He is with you, just as the mother eagle is with her young eagles, so is God carrying you during difficult and hard times. Continue to obey His voice and continue to keep His commands and remember we too have a promise land waiting for us. Look ahead, be reminded of what you have in Him and ask for an eternal vision to spur on daily hope.
