05 August 2019 – Acts 16:9-10 (NIV)

Scripture

During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Reflection

Verse 9 states how Paul and his missionary party received a vision instructing him and his team to go to Macedonia. However, we see in verses 6 and 7 how the Lord prevented them from going to two other different places. The Bible isn’t clear how these hindrances were accomplished. It may have been circumstances, a word of prophecy, a vision, or some other phenomenon.

What we can learn from this account is always to continue to listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Don’t be discouraged when you pray for guidance, and you don’t receive a clear direction on the first or second attempt. Continue to persevere, and God will reveal to you His plans.
