9 April 2021 – John 20:30-31 (NIV)
Scripture
30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Reflection
John, one of the disciples who was with Jesus from the beginning and for many years until his death at an old age wrote a presentation of Jesus called a gospel. He structured it around 7 signs. Jesus did a lot of things, John wrote, but the Holy Spirit has led me to these seven events from the life of Jesus so that in the things which Jesus did we might see his true identity and believe. Turning water into wine, healing an official’s son, healing at the pool of Bethesda, feeding the five thousand, walking on water, healing the blind man, and raising Lazarus from the dead. John said it best, “These things were written that you might believe!”
