5 APRIL 2018 -Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

Scripture

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so thatthey may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Reflection

A light shining in the darkness is powerful; one small light can dispel the darkness in a large room. The whole, “light in a dark room” thing doesn’t work however if the light is covered. The light, in the form of doing things for the good of others must be seen in public spaces. The light also fails to make a difference if it “goes out”; we have to keep our flame lit by keeping our personal relationship with Jesus authentic and alive. In the words of the children’s song:

This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine,

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Hide it under a bushel, NO!

I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Won’t let Satan blow it out, I’m going to let it shine

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

(Ps. Dale).
