Scripture

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

Reflection

As author Donald Guthrie has pointed out, the entire letter makes one large assumption, “God speaks”! God has communicated, he has revealed himself and is doing so today. In the past God spoke in a variety of ways; through dreams (Who can forget Pharaoh’s dream in Genesis 41), Visions (Ezekiel’s vision of a valley of dry bones coming to life in Ezekiel 37) and illustrations (Jeremiah’s visit to the Potter’s House in Jeremiah 18) and mostly through prophets. Individuals allowed God to speak through them what he would say to his people and to us who are living today. Yet God’s greatest revelation had not come; even so come Lord Jesus (Ps. Dale)

Prayer

“Relying on God has to begin all over again every day, as if nothing had yet been done” – C S Lewis Today, take time to stop, pause and rely on God again.
