7 DECEMBER 2017 – Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)

Scripture

12 For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Reflection

The Bible is a mirror unlike anything we have seen before. When we look into the Bible we don’t see our outward appearance but we see ourselves as we truly are. The Bible is a like a great therapist able to reflect back to us the true nature of our thought life and our attitudes. The Bible speaks to our EQ as well and gives us the feedback we are looking for in order to grow and mature into the person God dreamed of when he first imagined us (Ps. Dale).

Thoughts for the day

  • What does this passage tell us about God and people?
  • What do you feel God is telling you through this passage?
  • What is one way you can apply this truth to your life today?
  • Who can you encourage with this story/message?

Prayer

Pray the Lord’s Prayer: Matthew 6:9-13:

“OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN,
HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME,
YOUR KINGDOM COME,
YOUR WILL BE DONE,
ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD.
AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS,
AS WE ALSO HAVE FORGIVEN OUR DEBTORS.
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION,
BUT DELIVER US FROM THE EVIL ONE.”
