23 NOVEMBER 2017 – James 1:17 (NIV)

Scripture

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Reflection

Why is this so tempting? Why am I being tempted? I thought that when I become a Christian that I wouldn’t experience temptations. These are all good questions but one bad answer would be that God is tempting us or is causing the temptation. This is why James masterfully explains how we contribute to our own temptations. (James 1:13-15) Let’s not kid ourselves, not only is not God tempting us, rather he has given us a gift, the confidence that what we believe is true and first place among all that He loves (Ps. Dale).
